Preservations policies

Digital preservation policies:

Minerva Multidisciplinary Journal of Scientific Research, part of AutanaBooks Ecuador, maintains digital preservation policies, ensuring the integrity of electronic digital documents, for long periods of time; in this way, the inalterability of its characteristics such as authenticity, inalterability, originality, reliability, and accessibility is ensured.

Actions in line with these objectives are:

-Internal preservation: The publishing house AutanaBooks Ecuador files on external hard drives every two months all the files that make up the magazine, updating the structure in this same period of time.

Uses of Crossref International's digital resources for the preservation of the Digital Link (DOI): AutanaBooks maintains a permanent annual subscription with this company in order to maintain active and available all the links of the articles published in Minerva Revista Multidisciplinaria de Investigación Científica.

-Long-term preservation: Minerva magazine is processing its entry into CLOKSS. For more information visit Keepers Registry.

-PKP PN preservation: It is an additional capacity for long-term preservation of journal data.

-LoKSS preservation: Minerva participates in the PKP-PNL initiative that allows the preservation of its articles through the LOCKSS tool. For more information visit Keepers Registry.

Preservation and backups: relevant differences

It is important to distinguish the difference between backup copies, which are saved as a backup so that they are preserved in case of extreme situations, catastrophes, or loss of information. Normally what is kept in a digital library are public information on the server and digital resources in publishing.

On the other hand, digital preservation is not responsible for backing up information, but for protecting high-quality digital material that will be useful in the future.

For digital preservation, integral recordings of the material are made once a year and a half with new support.

Digital preservation is an institutional responsibility and commitment of all staff. AutanaBooks Ecuador fulfills the commitment to preserve documents from management errors, technical failures, digitization errors, possible viruses, software problems, and metadata, among others.

Preservation procedures

The digital preservation policies comply with the following procedures:

Careful storage of digital resources.

Continuous software evaluation, data assessment, data migration, and technology update.

Metadata layout.

A software update that allows keeping the information updated and available for future users.

Documents are saved in formats compatible with conversion to PDF, XML, and HTML.
