Resumen
La sustentabilidad empresarial se ha consolidado como un eje estratégico para la competitividad de las PYMES en América Latina, especialmente en contextos caracterizados por restricciones financieras, informalidad estructural y crecientes exigencias ambientales. El estudio analizó la influencia de la dirección estratégica en la sustentabilidad empresarial, considerando sus dimensiones económica, social y ambiental. Se aplicó un enfoque cuantitativo explicativo mediante modelamiento de ecuaciones estructurales PLS-SEM a una muestra de 368 propietarios-gerentes de PYMES latinoamericanas. Los resultados evidenciaron una influencia positiva y significativa de la dirección estratégica sobre la sustentabilidad empresarial (β = 0,68; p < 0,001), explicando el 47 % de su variabilidad. Se concluye que la formulación, implementación y evaluación estratégica constituyen factores determinantes para consolidar prácticas sostenibles en el ámbito empresarial.
